Last Thursday, architects, interior designers, and real estate experts gathered at the BigBrands Working Lab in Rotterdam. Ahead of Design District, the morning was dedicated to the Recrafted Breakfast Session: a session focused on circularity, upcycling, and the future of project design.

The Recrafted by Holmris B8 collection demonstrates how leftover materials are given a new lease on life. The goal is clear: maximum impact on the interior, minimum impact on the climate.

Unexpected materials as the new standard

Together with experts from HOLMRIS B8 and Kvadrat, we discussed the future of sustainable design. During this interactive knowledge session, the focus was on how unexpected materials are becoming the new standard in commercial interior design.

The central question was: how do we make circular ambitions tangible without compromising on high-end aesthetics? This sparked an open dialogue about the opportunities and challenges of circularity in practice.

Sustainability supported by data

To make the transition to a circular approach to office design, hard data is needed. Through transparent CO2 reporting, it was demonstrated how the ecological footprint per square meter of office space can be precisely measured and minimized. No vague green claims, just tangible data.

In addition to this deep dive into the numbers, visitors had the opportunity to experience the materials and designs firsthand. This led to concrete discussions among the experts about how the market can move forward together.

A strong collaboration

This successful session was made possible thanks to the dedication and expertise of our partners.

We would like to thank:

  • Jonas & Trine from HOLMRIS B8 for their valuable contributions and insights during the session.
  • Floor from Kvadrat for sharing her expertise in the field of high-quality, sustainable materials.
