The transformation of the Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel is one of contrast and character. What was once a closed building complex from the 1970s has now become a welcoming, sustainable, and vibrant place in the heart of the city. A total concept where history, sustainability, and contemporary hospitality come together.

The original architecture, robust and anonymous, has been transformed into an open and inviting urban hotspot. By opening up the ground floor, adding new entrances, and incorporating functions such as a restaurant and meeting center, the building has become part of the street life once again. At the same time, it has been fully renovated with sustainability in mind.

For the hotel rooms and corridors, Stylt developed an interior concept inspired by the Golden Age, but translated into the present. Not the cliché of old masters, but an atmosphere that breathes curiosity, innovation, and discovery. The same pioneering spirit, from astronomers to windmills, lives on in the rooms. The design is rich in layers, with refined materials, smart details, and sustainable choices such as repurposed lighting and furniture.

The color palette brings the balance between comfort and character to life. Rich wood tones form the foundation, combined with deep emerald green, warm ochre, and brass accents. This layered mix gives the space an inviting and contemporary feel, with subtle nods to the past. Every detail is carefully chosen, from the velvety soft materials to the rounded shapes and lighting, creating a space that radiates both calm and energy. A place that continues to surprise yet feels like home.

A project I am very proud to be part of. Every time I see a new section completed, it feels like the hotel is slowly coming to life.
